7-28-21 THOUGHTS

Prov 18:10    The name of the LORD is a strong tower; The righteous runs into it and is safe.

In a world that “calls evil good and good evil”, we need a safe place to flee to.  It is called a “rock of habitation” below.  The “see-saw” battle of life is portrayed in these passages.  We need rescuing continually.  But GOD IS GOD,  and that makes all the difference.   He sustains us each step of the way.  His word and His Spirit keep us in relationship with Him through Christ Jesus.  We praise Him each day, as is right.  Some of us understand the “old and failing strength” more than the rest of you.   The concern here is for a “casting off.”  I hope I speak for all the old folks when I say  “We just feel closer to God as the days go by.”  Lord  Come!

Ps 71:1-9    In You, O LORD, I have taken refuge; Let me never be ashamed. 2  In Your righteousness deliver me and rescue me; Incline Your ear to me and save me. 3  Be to me a rock of habitation to which I may continually come; You have given commandment to save me, For You are my rock and my fortress. 4  Rescue me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, Out of the grasp of the wrongdoer and ruthless man, 5  For You are my hope; O Lord GOD, You are my confidence from my youth. 6  By You I have been sustained from my birth; You are He who took me from my mother’s womb; My praise is continually of You. 7  I have become a marvel to many, For You are my strong refuge. 8
My mouth is filled with Your praise And with Your glory all day long. 9  Do not cast me off in the time of old age; Do not forsake me when my strength fails.

Ps 145:I-7   I will extol You, my God, O King, And I will bless Your name forever and ever. 2  Every day I will bless You, And I will praise Your name forever and ever. 3  Great is the LORD, and highly to be praised, And His greatness is unsearchable. 4  One generation shall praise Your works to another, And shall declare Your mighty acts. 5  On the glorious splendor of Your majesty And on Your wonderful works, I will meditate. 6  Men shall speak of the power of Your awesome acts, And
I will tell of Your greatness. 7  They shall eagerly utter the memory of Your abundant goodness And will shout joyfully of Your righteousness.
Ps 13:5-6    But I have trusted in Your lovingkindness; My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation.  6  I will sing to the LORD, Because He has dealt bountifully with me.
Ps 42:11   Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God.
Rom 15:13    Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

My Prayer:
O God, cause us to see clearly you awesome nature that we may praise you continually in joy.  Help us to teach our world of your great kindness and goodness.  May Jesus be the song of our hearts.  Thank you O Lord that there is good news, and that we know it.  Teach us to joyfully speak what we know and believe. May Jesus be seen in us.

In the name of Jesus           Amen
